The 1935 dime was made with larger amounts of real silver, so the first step in calculating its value would be to weight the silver content. Today it should come out to about two dollars and seventy cents. That's pretty darn good for a ten cent piece! Anyway, this value will change as the market for silver changes, so keep your eyes on the highs and lows if you are looking to sell your 1935 dime. A 1935 dime that was not circulated and therefore is still in mint condition should be worth even more- some say up to ten dollars or more !The real answer to the question is that your coin is worth whatever you can get someone to pay you for it. If you want to sell it, don't go to a dealer because they will pay you less for it (since they have to make a profit off the resale.) Instead, advertise it online or post it on eBay for an avid coin collector to place their own price on it. The three things that make a coin valuable are scarcity, condition and demand.

When you ask what is a 1935 dime worth, I have to assume you are talking about the Mercury head dimes. Basically, it is worth its weight in silver when it is not in the best condition. If it had been circulating since 1935 and no one has kept it for themselves yet, it is probably not in great shape. However, silver is silver. If you happen across a Mercury head 1935 dime in great condition you are very lucky. The actual preservation of the dime is the most important component of appraising what it is worth. The original details of these dimes wear away with time, and therefore a mint condition Mercury head dime would be pretty valuable for coin collectors, since all of the original details and sharpness is preserved. You may be able to find coin collectors that want this mint condition dime to add to their collection of other 1935 dimes, for example. It all depends on what the top bidder will pay!

The 1935 dime is called a Mercury dime, although Mercury dimes were made both before and after 1935. Mercury dimes are good because they are made with silver, however, you should make sure you appraise your coin very carefully before selling it for ten bucks, since some Mercury dimes are much more valuable than others. For example, the Mercury Dime “1916-D” is the most rare of this type of coin and you will get the highest price for it. What the 1935 Mercury dime is worth is probably about a dollar, unless its in great condition and you meet with an eager coin collector. One good Mercury dime to watch out for is the 1942 one, where there was a typo where the 1 was printed over the 2. These are extremely rare and valuable.
